Clear coat is thinner than a Post-it note. Everything attacks it.
Your paint’s only defense is a layer of clear coat about 40 microns thick, and it does not grow back. Once it has thinned or failed, polishing and coatings can only work with what is left. Here is what wears on it every day.
UV oxidation
Sun exposure gradually breaks down clear coat. That chalky, faded look is oxidation in the finish itself — not dirt — and improving it usually requires machine polishing.
Bird droppings & bug guts
Acidic enough to etch clear coat, and the risk climbs the longer they sit in summer heat. Remove them promptly rather than letting them dwell.
Water spots & hard minerals
Sprinklers and rain leave mineral deposits that bake into paint and often require machine polishing to remove.
Automatic car washes
Spinning brushes drag grit across your paint. Those spider-web swirls under streetlights? That is where they come from.
Iron & brake dust
Tiny hot metal particles embed in the clear coat, then rust. The orange specks on white cars are exactly this.
Tree sap & road tar
Bonds to unprotected paint quickly. The longer it sits, the harder it becomes to remove safely.
Wax vs. sealant vs. ceramic
Wax is a sunscreen. Ceramic is a windshield.
Wax sits on top of paint and melts off in weeks. A ceramic coating chemically bonds to the clear coat and becomes part of it.

Dirt releases more easily
A hydrophobic surface helps water and dirt release, which makes routine washing easier. How much easier varies with environment and maintenance.
Added UV resistance
The coating adds a sacrificial layer with UV resistance, designed to help slow oxidation of the clear coat underneath.
Chemical resistance
Bird droppings, bug acid, road salt and sap contact the coating first — they should still be removed promptly to protect the finish underneath.
Gloss you can see from across the lot
Condition-matched correction improves what can safely be corrected, then the coating helps preserve that depth and gloss.

30 minWe map every panel for swirls, etching and defects with detailing lights and a paint-depth gauge before touching a polisher. That inspection determines the recommendation.

Condition-matched paint correction
4–5 hrsCompound, polish and finishing passes as the paint condition safely allows. This step is why the gloss is real, not filled — and why results vary by vehicle.

Panel wipe & coating application
2 hrsPanels are chemically stripped of oils, then the coating is layered by hand, panel by panel, and leveled at the correct flash time.

Cure, inspect, hand-off
1 hrThe coating cures, every panel is inspected under lights, and you get a simple care sheet to help it perform for up to 3–5 years with proper care.
